The Flying Doctors

'The Flying Doctors' Title Pink Pigeon

Many wonderful TV shows were spawned in Australia during the 80s, none more so than the much-loved drama series The Flying Doctors. Set in the fictional outback town of Cooper’s Crossing, the series revolves around the everyday lifesaving efforts of the Royal Flying Doctors Service of Australia.

We were approached by Mediumrare Entertainment to produce the DVD box sets of the show, from Season 2 right up to the final episode in Season 9. As well as taking on the menu design, video encoding and DVD authoring, we also QC’d every episode and DVD. In total we watched just under 165 hours of The Flying Doctors and are now certified RFDS nuts!

This work led onto further commissions from Mediumrare Entertainment working on shows such as Kojak, The Bionic Man and The Littlest Hobo.

More product information about The Flying Doctors DVD can be found on the Mediumrare website.

    To whom it may concern

I bought all nine boxsets on dvd from Amazon.co.uk throughout 2008 and 2009. I watched them at the time they were received and everything was okay back then.

Two days ago I decided to rewatch some of the episodes again (as I am a big fan of this show) however I’ve noticed that on all the Flying Doctos boxsets the discs attached to the actual case (i.e. the first and last discs) have become coated in a sticky substance. It’s almost as if they’ve had a chemical reaction to the plastic of the dvd case.

This is very disappointing as I spent a lot of money purchasing these sets. It may be a chemical reaction the dvds are having with the choice of case being used.

I’m not the only person this has happened to as evidenced by a recent review left on AmazonUK which I’ve copied and pasted for your reference:

    “Sticky discs, 2 Jun 2011
By Regina – See all my reviewsThis review is from: Flying Doctors – Series 3 – Complete [DVD] (DVD)
I bought all the discs and watched them and enjoyed reliving my fond flying doctor memories. I have recently started to watch them again but in each box set , the first and last disc are covered in a sticky substance. I used disc cleaner but these discs won’t play. I’m quite careful with discs , so if anyone is having these problems, maybe there is an issue with the box they are stored in. ”

If you can shed any light on this problem or help in some way with replacement discs it would be very much appreciated.

I look forward to your reply.

    Kind regards
